Birchbox May 2016

Hey everyone. So I just received my May Birchbox. I haven’t tried the products yet but I thought I’d show you all what I got.

This month I received seven products which is more than usual, and the box design was inspired by dreams. I don’t have a photo but the top of the box was hidden and you could scratch it off with a coin to reveal the dream design. To be honest I did’t really get it because it was the same as the design at the sides. I wasn’t too impressed by it and it made a mess.

Anyway, onto the products.

Spectrum Collections Unicorn Tears Wonder Sponge – £4.99

I was quite happy to receive this makeup sponge, although I don’t know if it can replace my Beauty Blender. It works the same way as other sponges; dampen before use and use a tapping motion when applying products. I’m looking forward to trying this to see how it compared to my other sponges.

theBalm Cosmetics Stainiac – £10.00

This was the only makeup product I received in this months box. This is a multi purpose product as it can be used on both the lips and the cheeks. This is a water based product and is very sheer. I did swatch this and it was a nice colour but I’m generally not a fan of lip tints because I don’t feel like it gives me enough pigment. However, I will try this on my cheeks and see how it turns out.

Beaver Professional Hydro Nutritive Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner – from £11.50

I don’t know if I appreciate receiving this sample just yet because I received a little bottle of shampoo that I could probably get 4-5 washes out of. But then I receive a tiny packet of conditioner that I could maybe get 2 uses out of it – and that would be pushing it. How am I supposed to really form an opinion on a product that I can’t properly test, especially for a shampoo and conditioner. You’d need to try it a good few times to really see or feel a difference. Anyway, these products are supposed to revive and hydrate your hair using avocado oil and aloe vera.

Vasanti Brighten Up! Enzymic Rejuvenator -£26.00

This is probably the sample I’m most excited to try. This face cleanser is to be used maybe three times a week – which means this sample could possible last me three or four weeks. It is supposed to smooth and brighten your complexion using papaya enzymes as well as hydrate your skin with ingredients like coconut and aloe vera. The next eight weeks are pretty hectic for me with deadlines for both work and uni and my cousins wedding all in the space of three weeks so there’s a lot of late nights and long hours in front of a computer/laptop screen dulling my skin. Basically, I NEED THIS. So I hope it works.

Rituals The Ritual of Dao Mindful Body Scrub – £19.50

This is apparently supposed to be a spa in a bottle. This body scrub is s blend of Chinese bamboo particles and calming white lotus. It is supposed to help remove dead cells to leave skin smooth. I love having soft skin so I’m definitely looking forward to using this.

Vita Coco Coconut Oil – £9.99

This was such a tiny packet of coconut oil but I know the Vita Coco brand is very good so I’m most likely going to purchase the full size version as my current coconut oil is running low. Coconut oil is pretty amazing in my humble opinion. I use it for nearly everything from cooking to my homemade eye serum. You can never go wrong with it; it just adds so much moisture to my life, I love it.

So that’s it guys. If any of you are subscribed to Birchbox then let me know what you think of your box in the comments below.

Love Always,
